REfugee Women Inclusion through individual and team Sports

SUMMARY:

Two-year pilot project focused on promoting the inclusion of refugee women in various team and individual sports, through the creation of sports teams together with local women and the mentorship of coaches. In the context of using sport as a tool for refugee integration, Rewins 2.0 addresses two main issues:

  • the need to create training structures adaptable for the inclusion of refugee women in various team and individual sports (football, dance, volleyball, swimming, athletics, etc.);
  • the need to offer a personalized online mentoring program for coaches/trainers working with refugees.

 

PROJECT ACTIONS:

  1. Needs analysis
  2. Sharing knowledge and experiences
  3. Diffusion
  4. Communication and dissemination of the results achieved

During these phases Rewins 2.0 pursues the goal of direct involvement of refugees and host communities within the EU to promote a Europe-wide approach, increasing the potential for European host communities to engage and integrate more effectively.

There are three specific steps to support the achievement of this objective:

  • identification of good practices
  • development of training activities that facilitate the inclusion of refugee women in different sports
  • creation of mixed teams of refugees and people from the area involved who promote sport as a space to bring together people from different backgrounds.

In this path, it is vitally important to create the conditions to foster European-wide exchange of knowledge and mentorship to strengthen the capacities of coaches and sports workers working with refugees.
